Sorry, but I do not understand the logic of a plan being tossed around by the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (athletic directors) to reduce class sectionals (boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball) from four classes to three classes.
Give me a reason, guys and gals.
One reason, they say, is that the new plan will […]
Suggested sectional changes will not increase interest
Expect exciting tennis in MIC, HCC league tournaments
Get ready, high school tennis fans, for the first big week of the girls’ season. Friday and Saturday the Hoosier Crossroads Conference Meet will be played at Fishers. The Metropolitan Conference Meet will be held Saturday at Ben Davis.
There aren’t any more competitive tennis conference championships in the state than the HCC and the MIC.
In […]
Millers show how good they can be at their Invitational
Just how good is the Noblesville boys track and field team? Good enough to contend for the Hamilton County Meet crown? Good enough to compete for the Hoosier Crossroads Conference championship? How about the postseason?
Coach Kent Graham attempted to answer some of those questions earlier this week following the Millers’ competition in the Noblesville Invitational.
The […]
Sheridan softball could make run for another sectional
Softball isn’t the same at Sheridan. Much of the change came after the Lady Blackhawks, kind of, shocked the softball world by winning a sectional championship last season.
“We don’t take to losing any longer,” said Sheridan coach Dan Christian. “Winning four or five games a season isn’t good enough.”
That attitude is great, but it’s also […]
Emmerson helps tradition of Babe Ruth baseball continue
I’m very proud and happy when the Daily Times is able to cover an event such as what was pulled off by Noblesville Babe Ruth at Forest Park last Friday.
Babe Ruth honored Dean Emmerson for his role in building a new baseball facility, located across the left field fence from the long-established Logan Field.
It takes […]
Banquet honors past and present of county basketball
The present and the past of Hamilton County basketball will come together again for one celebration when on Sunday, May 4 the sixth annual induction ceremonies of the Hamilton County Basketball Hall of Fame will be held.
The event will be held at the Noblesville High School cafeteria. A reception is set from noon until 1 […]
Fishers-Southeastern golf is pivotal in Mudsock battle
There are 109 high school sporting events on the Daily Times’ event calendar this week. I know. Having nothing better to do with my weekend time, I counted them. Yes, 109. Give or take a few. Some may be called off because of the weather. Others, having been postponed earlier because of the weather, may […]
Wide open Hoosier Crossroads race heats up this week
The back-to-back games between Noblesville and Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern and Avon this week here in Hamilton County will play a big part of the heating up of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference baseball race.
Actually, the race for the championship began last week when Westfield, before heading into spring break, went into Lafayette Harrison and defeated […]
Hamilton County will host baseball, softball sectionals
If you followed the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s new format for boys and girls basketball this past season, then the schools will be familiar in the upcoming baseball and softball sectionals.
The only real news as the IHSAA announced its sectional assignments are the sites where the tourneys will be played.
No. 1 changes but county team still atop Class 4A baseball poll
Three cheers for Hamilton County high school baseball.
When the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association announced its Class 4A preseason poll, a Hamilton County team was ranked No. 1.
When, just yesterday, the coaches released its first poll of the regular season, a Hamilton County team was ranked No. 1.
There is, however, one little change. The […]
