This one will get me in trouble. I know. Been there; done that.
The Indiana High School Athletic Association, which spends lots of effort and money promoting good sportsmanship, likely will ban me from the press box when the state baseball tourney is held at Victory Field. That is, by far, my favorite state tourney.
Member schools, […]
Noblesville-Carmel rivalry still alive, just ask Wides, Vogt
Millers making run at 4A title as many contenders upset
Guess how many Class 4A top 10 ranked softball teams are still alive following sectional competition.
Five. Five remain and five have been eliminated. Included on the elimination list are the two teams ranked No. 1 and No. 2, Center Grove and Carmel.
Two of the remaining 10, No. 5 Avon and No. 8 Franklin Central, this […]
Hitt bounces back from senior night trouble with big hit
In Fishers’ Senior Night baseball game, senior Matt Hitt went to the plate four times and four times went down swinging.
“That really bothered Matt,” said Fishers coach Matthew Cherry after his catcher hit a walk-off single to give the Tigers a 1-0 victory over Hamilton Southeastern in the opening game of the sectional.
The win sends […]
Familiar HCC teams will make noise in regional meet
Hopefully, the battle tonight for the Lafayette Jeff Boys Track & Field Regional championship will be between Carmel and Noblesville.
That’s the way it has been in the big meets this season. Carmel twice has edged the Millers, once in the county meet and once in the sectional. With Carmel not around, Noblesville won its first […]
Tough for 4A favorites to reach championship
Noblesville, Westfield, Fishers and Zionsville certainly won’t agree, but wouldn’t it be nice for Carmel and Hamilton Southeastern to advance to Friday’s championship game of the Class 4A softball sectional being played at Noblesville?
Head to head, No. 2 Carmel going against No. 9 Hamilton Southeastern.
If that happens, fans will pack the park.
Talented field awaits county teams in girls’ track regional
It’s difficult trying to compare sectional results with what might happen in a girls track and field regional. It’s that way with Tuesday’s regional at West Lafayette, which will include athletes from sectionals which were held at Noblesville, West Lafayette, Benton Central and South Putnam.
Sectional facilities differ from site to site. Weather conditions sometimes are […]
Millers, Greyhounds have tools for postseason success
Rained out twice, Noblesville and Carmel will not meet in baseball this season. Unless, of course the IHSAA sectional drawings have the Millers and Greyhounds battling somet ime during the tourney.
The sectional will be played at Westfield. The IHSAA released tourney pairings today (too late for publication).
I’m not about to climb out on a limb […]
Snelling uncovers details of past track meet controversy
In an earlier column when I wrote about the score change which gave Carmel the Hamilton County track meet championship over Noblesville, I also touched on a meet held years ago when another score correction also changed the outcome.
Since I wrote that column, Dale Snelling has produced THE facts on what happened on April Fool’s […]
Westfield vs. HSE girls’ track Part III today in sectional
Westfield and Hamilton Southeastern, Part III.
Could it be any more exciting?
No, this is the sectional.
Could the meet go any other way?
Don’t forget Carmel.
Saturday’s edition shows commitment to local coverage
I’m not as dumb as you think (maybe). I’m not so old that I’ve lost my hearing (well, not all of it). I’m not so hard-headed that I don’t understand (although my wife won’t agree with that).
I read your e-mails. I listen to your telephone calls. While covering Hamilton County athletic events, I come face […]
